Actor Ayushmann Khurrana discussed his experiences with fame following the success of his debut film, Vicky Donor. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about how fame temporarily affected his perspective and how he overcame it. He also emphasised the importance of choosing a supportive life partner to maintain balance and personal growth.
In an interview with Honestly Saying Podcast, Ayushmann Khurrana addressed achieving fame at a young age and its affects on his personal life. He said, “I started very young. I was about 17-18 when I was in Pop Stars, and about 20-21 when I joined Roadies. Pehli film hit hone ke baad dimaag kharab ho gaya tha (I lost my mind after my first film became a hit). Everybody wants a piece of you.”
He continued, “Coming from that middle class background, when you become a public figure, you just think you need to give your 100 per cent to your profession. Your personal life takes a backseat. But, striking a balance is very important for family and relationships. I understood this very early on.”
Ayushmann added, “I think you have to tread this middle path of being content and ambitious at the same time. It is a difficult line to be in –imbalance, failures, criticisms. Once you face that, one realises the balance. It is not easy to detach.”
Speaking about his wife, Tahira Kashyap, the Dream Girl actor shared a life tip, saying, “The most important decision of your life is choosing your partner. The right partner can take you to heights, while the wrong one can destroy everything for you. Your life revolves around this. I have had a long journey from growing up in a patriarchal environment to now becoming a feminist. This could be possible because of my partner.”
He also mentioned how women are attracted to him today because of the values he learnt from his wife, Tahira. He said, “Now, if women are attracted to me, it is because of my wife. I have become a certain person because of her. We don’t believe in materialism. We were in theatre together. She used to write plays for us and I used to act in them. In the end, it all comes to friendship. If the two of you love spending time together, it means you are sorted.”
Ayushmann and Tahira got married in 2008 and are parents to two children. On the work front, the actor was last seen in Dream Girl 2. He will be next seen in the horror flick Thama, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
